BLOG: Contaminated meat warning

23 June 2017

World Para Powerlifting and World Para Swimming have warned athletes competing at this year’s World Championships in Mexico City about the dangers of consuming contaminated meat. In an International Paralympic Committee (IPC) statement, the sports have alerted athletes to the country’s use of clenbuterol, a prohibited substance in sport, in livestock production.

If you are an athlete competing at the World Championships we recommend you read the statement and take necessary precautions as an athlete subject to doping control.

This warning is similar to the caution issued by the World Anti-Doping Agency in 2011.
